A Neat Experience

My cousin Matt is serving a mission for the LDS Church in San Jose, CA. Below is an email from a local radio show that is sent out every so often. My cousin is the elder that she mentions that asked about her lawn. Pretty neat experience for everyone involved.

Miracle of the Week! This great idea(MOW) is courtesy of my 12 year old daughter Natasha!!
Last week I told you how I was standing in my yard looking at the overgrown everything, feeling overwhelmed and asking God for help. In the next breath 2 men appeared and began to give me their spiritual sermon. I kindly listened and before I could shoo them away, one turned to me, looked around and said, "Ma am looks like you could use some help here, we'd love to help you." As I burst into tears (of gratitude and dis-belief!) they made a plan and came back the next day. They worked 2 hours pruning and raking. Here's what's happened since.

They are missionaries with the Mormon Church. They returned a few days later, this time there were 4 of them. My lot is 1/2 an acre so there's plenty to do! I brought them grape juice and watched as they weed wacked, trimmed hedges, pulled weeds and filled 2 big green cans. Yesterday, they came back again! This time (I kid you not) there were 8!! Natasha and I made them lemonade. One of the boys was no more than 10. They filled 3 green cans.(thank you neighbors) When I looked in each of their eyes to say thank you before they left, I was so filled with love and gratitude, it's hard to explain. This experience will be remembered by me as one of the most powerful, profound and wonderful miracles of my life! Never once did they want anything in return.

My dear friend Mary said to me, "You know Sheila, as much as they're helping you, maybe you're helping them."

The next time you see people neatly dressed with bibles in hand, instead of running in the house for cover, why not smile and say hello? You never know where it may lead.
With Gratitude!
Sheila

Independence Day

I love the 4th of July. I love the good food, the heat, the fireworks, and celebrating this country. God bless America.
This year, Bryan's family came down. We had a great dinner, and we enjoyed the Stadium of Fire fireworks for free and without having to listen to all the girls scream for the Jonas Brothers.

A great holiday if I do say so myself.
